Last day of the Sculpture Workshop was a celebration day!

Also it was the day that we had all sculptures displayed in a long table as an exhibition. Students arrived and were impressed of all the fellows’ final pieces and discussed to each other about them.

Some students brought the sculpture home to be finished and was a nice surprise to see them finished!

First, participants presented their own sculpture telling their concepts, and color choices to reach the final result and their experience during this workshop.

It was really nice to see and hear the diversity creative process to reach colors, composition and ideas in their work. Even if they worked with similar casts of plastic bottles, fruits and vegetables the final freedom of interpreting,  and theme ; open up a lot of possibilities for each student to personalize their casts into interesting different compositions, bringing an explosion of colors over the table and reflecting the freedom and our diverse cultures!

Second, we enjoy the certificate ceremony in which Guido Garaycochea, Manager of New NewYorkers program and I distributed the certificates of the course completion. It was really moving with everybody cheering to each student receiving the certificate.

Finally we had an abundant potluck lunch in which we eat delicious food and many desserts from Peru, Colombia, Ecuador, and Brazil among others. It was delicious!

I would like to give a special thank you to Mariella Suarez for assisting the whole workshop and helping all the students and the studio facilities to be organized and Guido for your guidance and support. After hearing their feedback, I am glad that the students learned and enjoy this sculpture workshop and the exhibitions at Queens Museum we visited. I hope all felt even more part of a Latin community in Queens, NY as I did!

Thank you all the participants for its community engagement, sharing environment, creativity and hard work; I am so proud of you, your accomplishments, ideas and artworks!

We are looking forward to display the sculptures during the New NewYorkers Exhibition next year in which we will explore this multicultural sharing still life table concept.
