Workshop 4.21

Review:

We talked about the power of story telling, and how images can help  us to tell stories, and help our audience to understand better who we are and what we do.

The class saw Ted Talk:  Scott McCloud’s on Comics.    Scott McCloud is the author of the book : Understanding Comics.   We talk about storyboarding and the same as in films and video, we can prototype in frames to construct  visual stories.

We made a little example using  Fluid UI  –  an online prototyping and wireframing tool for smart phone apps.   And we ask the students to start to use paper and pen, or any tools they can find and use comfortably,  and begin to tell their story frame by frame.

WHY – she likes to buy souviner to remember her trips

Class feedback:  The class like the photo b00th idea and draw your own building.  Please focus on one or two ideas that you brought up during this workshop and focus on develop them. Find what’s fun and interesting and tell your audience a story.

* Louise Lear  –   Little Witch :  A Fun day with QMA

A drawing app  for kids and create a fun Panorama experience, kids can customize , draw, and create their own post card.

Class Feedback:  The power point presentation and image reference are very clear.  Can you think about what type of interaction, and user experience, that your ipad user will / can have?

*  Tung Lien –  Eye discover NYC

It’s collaboration with public school program. age group 5-6, 7-8, 9-11.

Motivation: Tung Lien is a parent and she sometimes feel frustrated with taking her kids to the museum because the kids prefer more activity based and more interactive games.

App ideas:

Adventure – kids can take a picture of self and their face will appear inside the app. Delete image after visit.

Treasure Hunt – a character will appear with a backpack.

What is – For example, where is empire state building.

Drawings: draw a building and bring it home.(like Foldify app, or Build Your Own Chicago), write your story, draw your own impression of NYC.

Class Feedback:

Emphasis School programe – work with QMA educator. Virtual Reality (for example: Becks Green Box project )  . Other students have similiar customized souvenir, etc.  Maybe the writing can be compiled together to look like a  text cloud or text block , text buildings.

Class Feedback:   Things to do at NYC — whats the difference between the app and the goNYC.com website?   One day in Queens.. narrow down the categories, visualize your ideas, use maps!

* Diana and George – elevator pitch?

Class feedback:   Use more images to explain your idea.   Think of a few different interaction/ game ideas and different Rewards. Focus more on your subject.

* Patrick  –  Plan your trip via Panorama

Class feedback – Find the most interesting part of the idea and use them to tell the story and inspire your audience.

* Judy  –  We are “Panorama”  :  This app focus on two questions:  Whats your name ? and where are you from?

Class feedback:  Use  more images to describe your ideas and help you tell the story which is behind your idea.
