SOCIAL PRACTICE 101. WEEK 5

During this 5th week, the students with artist Sol Aramendi, went to visit Híbridos Collective and Ele Eme Project in Jackson Heights and meet artists Asia Sztencel and Claro at the Queens Museum.
Hibridos Collective talked to the class about ways of organizing the community and reclaiming underused lands for creating active spaces for the neighborhood: in this specific case, the abandoned Leverich Cemetery is now being transformed in a beautiful community garden.
In the case of artists Asia Sztencel and Claro, they showed us their work with specific immigrant communities, Polish and Filipino, and using their art and skills to gather together generations or families between continents.
Thanks again Sol for organizing this exciting session and to all of you for sharing your experience with us!
