Drew Blanke (aka Dr. Blankenstein) is a New York City based circuit manipulator / designer, artist, and professional maker. From within his New York laboratory, a modern day mad scientist, he owns and operates his boutique audio synthesizer and instrument effects company… Dr. Blankenstein. Dr. Blankenstein’s work combines innovative sonic control features, analog circuitry and style in ways not often seen in technology. In recent years Blanke has presented synthesizers and effects to world renowned artists such as Kraftwerk, Trey Anastasio (Phish), Adam Horovitz (Ad-Rock of the Beastie Boys) and Tom Jenkinson (Squarepusher) to name a few. He has sold countless custom creations to musicians and collectors from around the world, as well as given lectures at, taught workshops and participated in the grand reopening of the Queens Museum of Art. Blanke has also served as a guest artist and technology educator at the New York Hall of Science, and has been a repeated guest & presenter at Moog synthesizer’s electronic music / education festival Moogfest.
