Sandra Dávila

IMG_1526Sandra is an artist and designer that has collaborated with the New New Yorkers Program since 2009. Her courses at Queens Museum aim at breaking imaginary boundaries set by her students as a result of migrating to a new country by helping them accomplish personal projects and facilitating the use of technology.

Sandra specialized in Media Studies and worked as a social researcher in Mexico before moving to New York to study at the Interactive Telecommunications Program (ITP) at NYU. At ITP she focused on developing tools for social development and under Clays Shirky’s mentorship, she collaborated with UNICEF in a design project for midwifes in Guatemala.
She has worked at The Wall Street Journal where she helped build the paper’s digital presence. Sandra also works at Code and Theory and recently lead the user experience for New York State service-oriented website: ny.gov.
Sandra was born in Chicago and raised in Monterrey, Mexico. She loves languages. She speaks English, Spanish, French, Italian and is now learning German.
