Come and practice your English at the Queens Museum with writer and artist Pamela Cardwell!
In this workshop ESOL learners will construct dialogues and use role-play to solve imagined and immediate problems. Using Pedro Reyes’ exhibition The People’s UN, we will explore the use of theater and group therapy to attempt to solve world problems that are not being resolved by world leaders. By embracing the idea of problems being a positive opportunity for change on an individual level, students will retell stories of peoples and things that have been transformed in their own countries. Students will also construct a symbol through the use of multimedia to show a transformation from negative to positive.
Pamela Cardwell is an artist a Fulbright fellow to the Republic of Georgia and has taught fine arts classes in Turkey where she traveled extensively. She has ample experience with English learners of varying levels and will be holding this workshop through the Literacy Assistance Center in New York.

Venga y practique su ingles en el nuevo Queens Museum
En este taller practicaremos el inglés por medio de ejercicios teatrales usando como modelo la exposición del artista mejicano Pedro Reyes. La obra del mismo parte de los modelos de resolución de conflicto utilizados en el mundo de la terapia y los aplica a polémicas actuales las cuales no han sido resueltas por medios diplomáticos. De la misma forma utilizaremos el diálogo y la comprensión para solucionar problemas tanto mundiales como del quehacer diario. También estudiaremos el uso y la explotación de los símbolos y su utilidad para dichos fines.
Pamela Cardwell es una artista galardonada con el prestigioso premio Fullbright con el cual emprendió estudios en la República de Georgia. También ejerció como profesora de arte en Turquía donde viajó extensamente. La Sra. Cardwell tiene amplia experiencia enseñando el inglés como segundo idioma y realiza este taller con la asistencia del Literacy Assistance Center in New York.

Pamela Cardwell 是一個the Republic of Georgia的Fulbright研究員。她曾在土耳其教授美術課程，並在當地遊歷學習。她有教授不同英語程度學生的經驗，目前在紐約的Literacy Assistance Center教授英文。
