Come and join us for an artist talk with Kika Nicolela!
Kika Nicolela is a Brazilian artist, filmmaker and independent curator. Her work includes single-channel video, installation, performance, experimental documentaries and photography. In this talk, Ms. Nicolela will draw from her own experience and approach topics like the relationship between the practice of the artist in solo and collective works, the artist as a curator and instigator, and the nomadic experience of the artist in the context of art-residencies. She will also give a brief overview on the strategies the artist has to devise for the funding, production, distribution and promotion of her own works.
Ms. Nicolela has a degree in Film and Video from the University of Sao Paulo. She also completed film courses at UCLA, and has participated in over 100 solo and group international exhibitions. She also received several major Brazilian and international grants and awards. Ms. Nicolela is currently doing a residency at LIFT (Liaison of Independent Filmmakers of Toronto).

Kika Nicolela es una artista, cineasta y comisario brasileña. Su obra incluye el video, la instalación, el performance, la fotografía y el documental como formatos. Por medio de esta charla Kika adentrará en su experiencia y el cómo forma esta a su obra individual y en colectivos, y la vida nómada del artista en residencia. También discutirá las estrategias que el artista tiene a su disposición para la producción y el financiamiento de su obra.
La Srta. Nicolela es egresada de la Universidad de Saõ Paulo. También curso cine en UCLA, y ha participado en más de 100 exposiciones internacionales. También ha sido galardonada tanto en su Brasil natal como en el exterior y actualmente se encuentra en residencia en el Liaison of Independent Filmmakers of Toronto.
