Week 3: DIY in Spanish: Storytelling

Sewing, cooking, teaching, cooking, speaking languages, traveling, collecting dolls, gardening, jewelry making… these are just some of the activities that the DIY in Spanish students like to do.

This class students started by presenting the things they enjoy doing.

Below are some of examples and photos taken by the class:

The previous class students were tasked to find an image inspired by the words of the day of the Merriam-Webster dictionary. Each of the students presented an image inspired by the word Oblivion, including Cynthia Lawson Jaramillo, our special guest from last week.

We went over some basics concepts of storytelling. What are the parts of a story, structure, including ways to play with order and rhythm when putting together a story.

Based on the concepts we watched a video on arm knitting:

Students reviewed the video and identified aspects, like order, rhythm, point of view, characters, time and speed.

As part of their next weeks assignment they needed to choose an online tutorial they wanted to follow and to tell a story about their experience following it.

Looking forward to their assignments.
