ESL for Mandarin Speakers – week 3

May 31 – Week 3

This third class was a continuation of our poetry theme from last week. We went over poetry vocabulary, genres of poems and conceptual poems. We were able to create a new one-page zine and made poems. Some were found poems and others were a combination of poetry and collage. Some folks even took it as a language challenge using meter and rhyming challenges, inspired by poems like Limericks, Haikus and Sonnets. Taiwanese Museum Fullbright visitor, Shan Shan, joined our class and was very impressed by the hard work you all are doing.

We didn’t have class this past Wednesday, but I look forward to our next class this coming Wednesday! We will be learning about protest art and letter writing. I also would like to check in with each group about their group projects and each student about their progress, learning styles, and individual projects.

Please remember to join the WhatsApp group, email Gia at genriquez@queensmuseum.org if you’re not already added.
